WHO ARE WE?

WHAT DO WE DO?

Roland and Ora (R&O's namesake) started a tiny cafe in back of a Bucktown grocery store in 1980 specializing in pizza.  Soon the news spread about Roland and Ora's cafe and as crowds came from all over New Orleans to sample their delicious pizza, they expanded their menu to include poor boys and seafood.

Now located on Old Hammond Hwy., a stones through from Lake Pontchartrain, R&O's has become a staple in Bucktown.  The large dinning room provides a lively and casual dining experience featuring the same delicious food prepared by Roland and Ora, at a very reasonable price.

Poor Boys, Pizza, & Seafood!!!

The 10 best roast beef po-boys in the New Orleans metro area

Excerpt from the article written by Brett Anderson, NOLA.com on April 15, 2012, updated December 15,2016

"The Winner: R&O's

It is impossible to think of anything while eating R & O's roast beef po-boy other than the pleasure of eating. For a devoted carnivore — or even a conflicted but still wildly enthusiastic one like me — the experience reaffirms carnivorousness as an energy that borders on sexual.

If everyone could eat something that had this effect on their minds and bodies every single day, the sum total of human unhappiness would reach historic lows. Too bad there is only one R & O's."

As much as I like discovering the “new places” this city has to offer, sometimes it’s just as much fun to discover the old ones.

Excerpt from the article written by BurgerDogBoy, burgerdogspizza.com on June 26, 2012

"For a town that is steeped with Italian tradition, New Orleans is sometimes a difficult place to find a good pizza, but fortunately, R&O fills the void. If you get tired of menus chock-a-block full of “deep fried everything,” you might try the Italian specialties at R&O. (But of course they do have all manners of local seafood, po-boys, and dinner entrees, as well).

New Orleans is a great town to get Italian sausage, and the hand-pulled chunks on R&O’s pizza are no exception. Excellent texture, seasonings, and cooked to perfection. Real cheese and a mild red sauce (here we call it “red gravy”) bind it all together. The cheese melds together so well, that if you attempt to remove a slice immediately after the pizza has been served, that cheese is going to pull away. Wait a minute! The whole experience will go better."

Po-Boy Power Rank

"1. Roast Beef Po-Boy

R & O's

Bucktown/Metairie

Number one? It may be an Italian spot featuring generous pizzas, veal parm, and spaghetti, but the roast beef at R & O's is absolutely the best in the city, chopped (not sliced), crazy tender, and drowning in dark, rich gravy, it’s the stuff that dreams are made of. Po-boy dreams."
